Product Overview

The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is a compact soundbar built to dramatically improve TV sound in small to medium-sized rooms, without adding a large box under the screen. It’s the direct successor to the original Beam, keeping the same compact footprint while adding Dolby Atmos support, a faster processor, and an HDMI eARC connection.

The Beam (Gen 2) can be used as a standalone soundbar straight out of the box for an immediate upgrade over a TV’s built-in speakers, or expanded into a full home theater system by adding a compatible Sonos subwoofer for deeper bass and a pair of Sonos speakers as rear surrounds for true multi-channel sound.

Inside, four elliptical midwoofers and a center tweeter handle the front soundstage, backed by three passive radiators for low-end reinforcement. Rather than using upward-firing drivers, the Beam (Gen 2) recreates Dolby Atmos height and surround channels virtually through advanced digital signal processing, powered by a quad-core processor that’s 40% faster than the original Beam. Speech Enhancement and Night Sound modes help balance dialogue clarity and loud/quiet moments respectively, useful for late-night viewing.

A far-field microphone array enables built-in voice control, with a physical mute button for privacy, and capacitive touch controls on top handle playback and volume without needing a remote. The soundbar connects to a TV via HDMI eARC (backward compatible with standard ARC), and joins the wider Sonos ecosystem over Wi-Fi for whole-home multi-room audio alongside other Sonos speakers.
