Really great sounding, high quality, no frills stereo amp. I use the optical input, and either Pure Direct when I don’t want to meddle with the sound, or the tone control with the variable loudness control when I need to feel a little more ‘punch’. My speakers are fairly sensitive, so the output power is more than enough for my most enthusiastic listening sessions. I really appreciate the design decisions Yamaha took, when creating the entry point of the A-S series, giving the audiophile with a limited budget a really good place to start!
