Product Overview

The Yamaha NS-333 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker designed specifically for home theater use, capable of serving as a main front channel or surround channel within a multi-channel system. A bass-reflex enclosure houses a 5″ Polymer-Injected Mica Diaphragm (PMD) cone woofer alongside a 1″ aluminum dome tweeter, aiming for accurate, high-sensitivity reproduction across a wide dynamic range suited to both movie soundtracks and music.

The tweeter sits within Yamaha’s proprietary waveguide horn, designed to shape and direct the sound field more precisely toward the listener. Since most home listening rooms lack the sound-absorbing treatment of a dedicated cinema, reflected sound off walls and ceilings can blur imaging — the waveguide horn reduces this effect, increasing the proportion of directly-arriving sound for a clearer, more precise sense of spatial placement.

Internally, select components are wired with Monster Cable to maintain a clean signal path from the crossover network to the drivers. The speaker’s Elliptical Form (EF) cabinet is designed to minimize internal standing waves and sound diffraction, finished in a high-gloss black piano finish with a newly designed, acoustically transparent grille cloth. Magnetic shielding allows the NS-333 to be placed near a CRT television or video monitor without interfering with picture quality via stray magnetic fields.
