Product Overview
The RX-V6A is a feature-packed 7.2-channel AV receiver from Yamaha that supports multiple speaker and subwoofer configurations, including 7.1 or 7.2 with Surround Back speakers and 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 with Front Presence (Height) speakers. It can also be used in a 5.1 or 5.2 setup with the two remaining amplifier channels utilized to bi-amp the front speakers or to drive two speakers in another room. In a dual zone configuration, input selection and volume control of Zone 2 can be independent of the main zone.
But what makes this AVR outstanding at this price point is that it has connectivity for 9 speakers, meaning that you can have a 7-speaker system in your main zone and simultaneously have 2 more speakers connected in the 2nd zone. When you switch Zone 2 on, the two amplifier channels that drive the Surround Back or Front Presence speakers will automatically be reassigned to drive the Zone 2 speakers, and your Main Zone will switch to 5.1 or 5.2 mode.
And it gets even better. If you don’t need speakers in a second zone, you can have 9 speakers in your main zone, connected in a 7.1.2 or 7.2.2 configuration. The AVR would normally operate in 7.1/7.2 mode, with the Front Presence speakers switched off. If a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X signal is detected, the AVR will automatically switch to 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 mode, by switching off the Surround Back speakers and switching on the Front Presence speakers.
